He’s so against fighting them and the Leviathans can kill him. As a matter of fact they have, so they can do it again. But as soon as Dick threatens Dean, Cas is like “fuck this shit, you can’t touch him.”
It doesn’t matter if you ship them or not, they love each other. The writers make that quite clear.
I never thought about this before. About all the preaching Cas did about not fighting anymore and about being useless against a Leviathan. And then at the drop of dime he just steps in front of Dean to protect him.
